Native American Heritage Month Film: "Inhabitants: Indigenous Perspectives on Restoring Our World," (2021, dir. Boutsikaris and Palmer), to access this film on demand, navigate to this link, available through Wednesday, Nov. 30.

SUNY Cortland's Native American Studies Program is pleased to make available several full-length documentaries that highlight the histories, cultures, and politics of the Indigenous peoples of North America. The second film is available now for on-demand viewing through November 30th.

The second film, "Inhabitants: Indigenous Perspectives on Restoring Our World" (2021, dir. Boutsikaris and Palmer), “follows five Native American communities as they restore their traditional land management practices in the face of a changing climate.” Featured in the film are the desert farming techniques of the Hopi in Arizona; the buffalo restoration efforts of the Blackfeet in Montana; the sustainable forestry initiatives of the Menominee in Wisconsin; the food sovereignty programs of the Kānaka Maoli in Hawaii; and the prescribed-fire practices of the Karuk in California.
