Earth Day Speaker: Environmental activist Kim Cameron '94, sponsored by the Biology Club, Bowers Hall lounge, 6 to 7 p.m.

Details:

The Biology Club has invited a very special alum to speak on campus this Wednesday evening in connection with Earth Week events. The speaker will be Dr. Kim Cameron (BS Biology in 1994).

Kim received her PhD at SUNY ESF, was a postdoctoral researcher at Cornell, served as a adjunct faculty member here when we were in need, and formed her own company serving the educational needs of central NY high school students. She has also employed some of our graduates in her company.

Kim is heavily involved in environmental education and advocacy.  She is co-president of the League of Women Voters in Cortland County and recently was chosen, as their representative, to attend UN Climate Conference in Dubai last December. Also, she is the founder of Beyond Plastics Onondaga & Cortland Counties, an organization aimed at eliminating single-use plastic through education and legislative action. She is one of their trained speakers, giving talks around the country educating folks about plastics.
