Sandwich Seminar: Disability and Blind Education History, presented by Elizabeth Wells, English Department, Old Main Colloquium, noon to 1 p.m.
Description:
Disability accommodations for the visually impaired go back more than 150 years in the U.S. In this talk, Wells will share her research on the history of the American Printing House for the Blind – the first printing house for the blind in America – and how the story of its founding reminds us of important and ongoing problems in the struggle for the accommodating disabilities even today.
