Open Air Pedagogies Panel: Part of Latiné Heritage Month

3:30 to 5 p.m.

Brockway Hall Jacobus Lounge

Sponsored by the Cultural and Intellectual Climate Committee

Come to explore the myriad ways education beyond the classroom delivers memorable and vibrant learning experiences and inspires new ideas.

We will explore these pedagogical journeys from the neighborhoods of Cortland to the Central Adirondack regions, down to South America, the Amazon, coffee regions, urban centers of Colombia and Afro-Colombian territorial and cultural practices.

The Cultural and Intellectual Climate Committee invites all to today's panel discussion at 3:30 in Brockway Hall's Jacobus Lounge "Open Air Pedagogies" and to our screening of "The Wisdom of Trauma" on Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm in the same place!

This afternoon's discussion features:

Daira Elsa Quiñones, representative of AMDAE (Self-help Association for the Comprehensive Development and Entrepreneurship of Afro-Colombians),

Dr. Kelly Wessell, Professor of Biology at TC3, who will discuss his years of experience leading study abroad trips in Colombia and a newly developed program here at Cortland to explore Economies, Ecology, and Culture through the Amazon, Andes Mountains, Caribbean, and urban environments, and Dr. Randi Storch, Distinguished Teaching Professor of History will discuss how she uses Cortland’s properties on Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks to advance knowledge and teaching of the Gilded age and Progressive Era.

So please come out and learn about outdoor educational opportunities and approaches form NYS to the Amazon!
