Dr. Shannon Draucker is Associate Professor of English at Siena College, where she teaches courses in women's, gender, and sexuality studies; nineteenth-century British literature; and the novel. Her first book, Sounding Bodies: Acoustical Science and Musical Erotics in Victorian Literature (SUNY Press, 2024), argues that nineteenth-century scientific discoveries about music's effects on the body transformed how Victorian writers imagined pleasure, desire, and intimacy.
